3 little duckies!

Hey ho! I've got 3 little ducks.

Actually, they aren't ducks, but duck-geese. And duck-geese grow up to be very big and they weigh minimum 5 kilograms. Yum!

Of course if you want you can keep them for their eggs.

Last time we had ducks, (the post My Animals!) the 2 white ducks were so fit, that they could fly! They would fly maximum 20 meters across the yard to meet each other. Once they flew over the fence and the neighbours had to catch them. Or once a duck nearly went on the road.

While the duck-geese can't fly. That's the good thing about them. But who has seen a 5 kilo duck fly?!

I'll be writing a new post soon!

Christmas in Australia

Ho ho ho! (Please don't mistake me for Santa Claus!) Helooo? Anyone here want to learn how Australians spend their Christmas time? Come on, some volunteers! Is there someone after all? Then I'll begin.

Like Europeans, they eat, talk, and then open their presents, sing carols. They usually gather at the beach. They surf, and play beach ball. (Because Christmas in Australia comes in summer) But they have a special song, a Christmas song. Not about Jesus, nor angels, but about Santa Claus! (We'll talk about that later)

Someone know any Christmas jokes? Because I know one! It goes like this:

Who gives presents and has claws?

Santa Claws! (Claus)

What's red, black and white?

A very sooty Santa!

Why does Santa ride in a sleigh?

Because he can't afford an plane!

Why did the Australian say: OH MY!!!!!?????

Because a present fell on his head (a very heavy one too, for it was for him).

It's time, it's time to sing an special Australian song...

What's your type of country?

Well, guys, if you don’t like the country you’re living in then I’ve got some countries that you may like.

1# If you like cold beer, really hot weather and the sea – go to one of the Greek islands.

2# If you like spicy foods, very very hot weather and the city – go to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

3# If you like fish and chips, hot weather and surfing – go to Australia.

4# If you like meat, potatoes and sour cabbage, cold weather and skating – go to Poland.

5# If you like to hike in the mountains, see breath-taking views and visit sheep-farms – go to New Zealand.

6# If you would like to see mini gardens, eat with sticks, and skiing - go to Japan.

I don't mean that you have to go there but I'm just guessing what's the right country for you. See u!

Hummingbirds rock!

You see guys, hummingbirds aren't as boring as you may think. They are really interesting birds!

Well, hummingbirds are very small and colourful birds of the Trochiliede family. They have long thin beaks to suck nectar from flowers. They are the smallest birds on earth! Also, they have no sense of smell...

The most interesting thing is that hummingbirds cannot walk! But they can fly anyway they want to - forwards, left, right, backwards and hover in the air! No other birds can do such tricks!

They beat their wings about 80 times a second during normal flight and 200 during a courtship dive.

Their heartbeat can reach up to 1,260 beats per minute.

There is so much information about hummingbirds! I think I'll have to write another post about hummingbirds. See u for now!

Time to pick mushrooms!

Hey guys, get ready to pick some mushrooms!

There are really lots of types of mushrooms all over the world! I can even prove it! It was one sunny day, in Australia ...:

And me and my friend were sitting on a bench under a tree, when I looked at the ground and saw a mushroom. I was surprised, because the mushroom was one of the protected species. You could hardly ever see it in Poland! When I came home I told my mum and she said: 'You can't find it in Poland because people pick mushrooms a lot there, otherwise in Australia no one picks them at all!'

I know most of the mushroom names and there are some rare ones like I said in the previous paragraph. The one I saw in Australia was gwiazdosz fredzlowaty (I only learnt it in Polish and you pronounce it like this: khviasdosh frentzlovatyh). Of course, it is not the one on the picture - google it on your own if you are interested!

That's enough for today! Bye!

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is a very important day for Australians and New Zealanders (Kiwis) and all free people in the world.

Every year Australians observe 1 minute of silence at 11am on 11th November in memory to those who died or suffered in the first world war.

The war ended on 11 November 1918, hence the commemoration on that day. People go to memorials to place poppies beside the names of people who were killed at war.

Let us remember those, who gave their lives for the freedom of our countries.

Lest we forget.

The weather...

It's amazing how the weather changes or how it is different in parts of the world.

I have been to many countries and I have seen and felt how the weather changes.

Sometimes I would like to have different weather in countries that it doesn't belong. It's like wanting to have 20 degrees in Antarctica!

Does someone know WHY the weather changes? Why does the temperature rise and fall? Why doesn't it stay the same? Sometimes we have so much questions in our head that they cannot be answered! I suspect that the sun is the answer. Could somebody confirm?

Wishing u very good weather! Bye!

Marching hen!

I present to you - Screaming Lady again! (Only she is doing something else this time!)

I was about to take a shot of her and I was just clicking on the 'Take a picture' button when my sister started to call her. Screaming Lady, when they call her, she runs. And that's what she did this time. That's why the shot came out so funny.

Just think - what would you do when you see a hen marching?! You just laugh! That's what I did.

Don't you guys think that a hen like Screaming Lady must be worth more than the price they sell hens at the market? I think that she's worth more than I paid for her. I bought her for the price of $8 (it's in Aussie dollars).

1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, ... It's the Marchin' Hen!

I think that's enough shock for poor Screaming Lady by getting on my blog. See ya!

Broiler - yum!

Hi, sorry that I haven't been writing posts so long but I've been very busy looking after my farm, and when I have the mind to write a post, I always remember I've got something else to do.

Today we're gonna talk about broilers - for those who don't know what a broiler is - I'm telling you guys it's a chicken, a really big chicken that is killed for meat. Broilers are like chickens that never grow into hens, or roosters, only they grow, grow but they only grow in size, not in look.

We had 10 broilers. I've heard that people say that broilers have to be kept all day in the shed where they sleep, but I let them out anyway. By the way, who would like to stay in the house all day?! Anyway, as I said, we had 10 broilers, and they were real scared when we brought them to our house. But as time passed, they grew more familiar with our yard, and of course, they grew bigger every day. When they were big enough, we slaughtered them. Some we had to kill earlier, because they were getting weak. But the meat was lovely!

Watch out for the next funny post  - Marching Hen! Bye!

My hen Screaming Lady!

Well guys, you've got some hen business in this post, I'm warning you! But read on.

People think hens are stupid, but I'm not sure that's true. You can just look at my hen, Screaming Lady.

I taught her to do tricks. The other hens are jealous that she gets all the best bits and they always follow my Screaming Lady around. That's a little weird, eh?

That's all. See ya!

So long Capek!

Hey guys! Today I'm gonna tell you something about Capek, my male goat.

Capek was very small when he came to us. He was a cute brownish-black goat. Of course, our female goat Balbis didn't want him to be in the same barn as her! She knew it wasn't her child, so she kept on butting him, and as a small goat would do, he cried. So when we returned, Capek was still crying and Balbis butting him.

Days after that one, Balbis got so used to Capek that when he was gone, like when he wasn't in her sight she would cry like: first: maaaaa! next: maaaaa! then: maaaaa! last: maaaaaaaa!

First she would butt him, and then want him to be near! Funny goat! After all, she cries about every thing!

When Capek was big enough, and started butting people, we slaughtered him. It was so sad, but the meat was yummy!

But we don't miss him much. We've got plenty more animals!

As soon as I can, I'll write a new post! So see ya for now!

D for dog!

Hmmm, lets see... D... for dog... All right! A post about dogs! Here we go!

Dogs are one of the most intelligent animals of the planet. You can train them to do many things like: to obey simple commands, bring your paper or slippers. Of course there is much much more things to train them: (harder stuff) to retrieve hunted animals, to be a guide for blind (they train Labs for that), to be sheepdogs, and in cold countries - to pull sleighs.

These animals are very close friends of people. They will do anything for his/her master/mistress. I have a dog myself and she is very faithful. When I go somewhere (for example: to the shop, or to meet my friend) she just lies near the gate and waits, waits... until I come back. She is very happy then (as, I suppose every dog would if their master/mistress came back home).

A dogs fur colour ranges from black to white and also goldish and brown. So dogs are, lets say, different coloured.

Well, I think I have told you a little too much... Time to do something else! See you next time!

Meow!!!!

Oh no! That's a cat! Quickly read the post!

Cats are kept as pets in the house, but also can catch mice.

Cats need to earn for their living! (As some people say) Catch mice!

For example, what do wild cats eat? Mice and small mammals, of course! That's why cats are supposed to catch mice.

In Greece the climate is hot, so cats multiply quickly. You can see minimum one cat on each street (or two).

Cats are weird little animals. For example:

Some cats kill mice and bring them to the owner’s door and leave them there. Some eat the mice. Some are smart, others not. Queerest: Male cats cross the road minding "roaring monsters (cars) with two-legged (people) in their stomachs" and females don't mind, they just cross the road. And when cats mate, the female has children and the male goes off never to be seen. Why?

No more info, no more cats! Bye!

Earthquake?

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Greece for a holiday. So the whole story goes like this:

I was lying on the bed, and reading a book. Suddenly, the floor, the ceiling and the lamp shook! My dad was near the window and he looked out in the very moment the earthquake began. The people outside did not even FEEL the earthquake (because it was a little one). Weird!

The whole earthquake didn't last long. It lasted only not more than 5-10 seconds.

'In Greece and Cyprus there are a lot of earthquakes' my mum tells me, 'and the people have gotten used to them and the houses have quake protectors.'

I wonder... do fishes feel earthquakes? If anyone finds the answer let me know!

See ya! And keep reading my posts on All My Bits And Pieces!

The best country is...

...Australia! Of course, for me! For you it might be: Brazil, America, Africa, U.S, U.K, Asia, Europe...

Talking about Australia, lets start with the fauna.

Kangaroos - wild animals, although they can be tamed and fed from human hand and that they are cute, but in the wild they can be aggressive. Kangaroos can be grey, brown, red...

Dingo - a close cousin of the dog, but does not bark. If you want to have a dingo, remember to cross it with a dog first, because that is the only dingo you can have around the house. Also tamed easily.

Koala - munch, munch! Crunch, crunch! A koala eating eucalyptus leaves. Usually very fussy, only to eat special types of eucalyptus. These gentle, lazy animals sleep more than they move!

Australians are proud of their country. We like to sing a song: We share our dreams, and sing with one voice, I am, you are, we are Australian...

Hey there, funny fish!

Have you ever seen a funny fish? Now I will show you one.

We are staying by the seaside and I've seen a lot of fish lately. Long, short, silver coloured, brown coloured, small... whatever. But I've never seen a funny fish in the sea. Maybe because they aren't real. Or maybe they are?!

Funny fish are supposed to be funny and that's that! A funny fish that is not funny isn't a funny fish, right? So there!

The pictures shows a funny fish and a not funny fish. Say, funny, not funny! That's what the fish are.

Some people think fishes are stupid, but I'm not sure that's true. Fact, they swim all day, and do nothing else, but that's how The Lord made them!

If you ever see a fish that's acting funny, let me know!

My animals!

Hi guys! Today we're going to talk about my animals! I live on a small farm and I have lots of animals. So hop into the world of my animals today!

I have five ducks, to tell you to start off. They are nearly always hungry! They quack; Qua, qua, qua really loudly and I have to give them food or they will not finish their concert.

A mallard duck has a bluish-greenish-purplish rectangle (a mirror) on its left wing. When the sun's shining, the mirror is bright and flashy. Next one, a duck-goose is pure white with a black spot on its head. Of course the mallard with the mirror is a male, while the other one is a female. The other white ducks do not have as white feathers as the duck-goose, but they are sort of whitish.

They are really cheerful!

If you have a chance to see some ducks, look out for mine!

Also coming... My animals, part two!

Final; Netherlands vs Spain

Nice! Four days before there was a final; Netherlands vs Spain. To tell you the truth, I think the game Germany vs Uruguay was more exiting. Much more attraction. Don't you think so? Actually, the game was fine, but not worse than the game for third place.

Well, I was like "Wow!" when Spain won. But, on the other hand, I think it was way too rough. When someone kicked the other teams player in the face, I said -I'm going to sleep. I think about 5-8 players in every team got a yellow card.

Spain, had a real victory that day, not looking at the teams gotten yellow cards...
But still, it's sort of like... when the team you want to win wins, you are so happy about it. Soccer kind of rocks in it's own way.

I don't think Spain has the best team in the world, but that was the team I was going for. I like soccer, maybe there are people that don't like it... Anyway, see you, when the Europe Cup comes in two years maybe we will have more interesting finals to write about.

Lizards galore!

Hey, lizard fans! Ready to get some lizard info? Then read on!

Lizards are small, clever little creatures. They are quick and like to hide. I have caught one today and I saw it closer. It does give you some info, the look. Here is the look of it: it is about 5cm long (the most seen ones), the paws are small, and the interesting thing is, that the front paws have shorter claws and the back longer, its scales are smooth, and you nearly don't see then at all, whereas the colour is usually brown with some spots.

A rare occasion is a lizard with a orange belly. It is normally quicker than the other, common lizards and if you try to catch it, it can try to bite. So it's better to leave such lizards alone, in peace.

Bye, lizard fans, hope you liked the post!

Germany vs Uruguay

Guys! Two days before, there was a game Germany vs Uruguay! Did you watch it? Super game! So much action, they were fighting like lions! Just like it was a game for life and death! Oh, man! Best game I have seen in my life!

Plus, the two best German players, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski were sitting on the bench! I think that Germany would have won 4-0 if they were in. Rather sad that they got two yellow cards in the last two games.

It is a wonder that Germany won 3-2 with Uruguay ... I thought that if Klose and Podolski were not in the game, that they would lose completely! I was wrong! Germany is pretty good without Klose and Podolski!

See you! Enjoy the following posts!

An elephant?!

Whoa! Let's stop in Africa to get some knowledge about elephants!

Elephants are the greatest mammals on land, but, there is a mammal that is bigger than the elephant itself! The majestic blue whale (We're going to talk about that in other posts).

Elephants, can eat as much as 32 kilograms of leaves and grass a day! Hey, you know what? An elephant, can eat more food in one week than a couple of people in a year! Pretty sweet, don't you think?

Elephants live in Africa. The elephants scientific name is Loxodonta Africana (Savanna elephant, largest elephant specie).

As most people know, elephant hunters hunt elephants for their ivory tusks. Then the hunters go to the company they're working in and say: "Here are the ivory tusks you asked for!" Well, the company man replies: "Well, you've brought me what we need so here is the money for them".

Then, how CAN you stop them!? The ones beginning to hunt elephants think: "Good job, if I kill more elephants for their tusks I'll get more money!" Then it just goes on and the hunters end up killing more elephants! Once there was a extremely large number of them, thirty years ago there was 3 million of elephants, but now there is barely about half a million!

Well, we can all see the changes in nature and no one is able to say: "Lets finish with killing elephants!" because then the others will say: "No, we want ivory figures to sell! They are very nice!"

Go on and pass the knowledge to your other members of the family! Goodbye!

Hawks everywhere!

Let me tell you about hawks.

Hawks are birds of prey, means predators. Their prey is usually mice, snakes, small birds and sometimes lizards or rodents. Hawks catch their prey in their talons and then they bring it to the nest to share the animal with their family. As everyone knows, hawks rip their prey with their powerful beaks. Hawks have very keen eyesight. The hawks eyesight is eight times more powerful than ours! No wonder that they can fly so high and see so well!

Hawks live up to 10 - 21 years. The mother hawk lays from 1 - 3 eggs in the nest at nesting time. Adult hawks weigh somewhere about half a kilo. The hawks wingspan is 56 inches (142cm).

Bye for now!

Talking about animals

I like animals, so I'd like to give you some info about the kingfisher. The kingfisher is one of the most beautiful birds we have. Of course, not in Australia. Kingfishers are also called 'flying jewels' because when they fly, when you look up, it's like you see a flying jewel.

The kingfishers babies must feel horrible in their nest because it's made out of fish skeletons!

These miraculous birds, they live in colonies and they dig their nests in hilly grounds near the riverbank. Therefore, their old name 'groundfisher' which means that the bird 'is born in the ground' comes from their nesting places.

There are three types of kingfishers:
- our common kingfisher,

- the piebald kingfisher and

- the white kingfisher.

I hope you learned something from my post. See you again!
